Sustainable Farming Development
Testimonial
Meet Rashid Juma, one of our dedicated beekeepers located in the Njombe region. He has been involved in beekeeping since 1999 and is a valued member of the beekeeping groups established by Swahili Honey in partnership with organizations like USAID. Rashid Juma has been collaborating with Swahili Honey for 2 years now.
Initially, he was just one of many beekeepers from whom the company sourced honey. However, Swahili Honey soon invited him to participate in sustainable beekeeping training through their demonstration apiaries.
Before partnering with Swahili Honey, Rashid Juma used traditional beekeeping methods and had modest yields. Now, after just 2 years of training and support, he has significantly increased his honey production, doubling his yield.
"I have been beekeeping since 1999 using old methods and had low yields. Within just 2 years of working with Swahili Honey, I've boosted my yields thanks to their training. The middlemen who caused us losses are gone," said Rashid Juma
Through the profits made, he has expanded his beekeeping operation, bought 10 additional hives, built 2 modern houses, afforded his children's school fees, and diversified into farming other crops such as maize and avocado. He looks forward to engaging in tree crop farming in the future.
